Let’s help the environment and help alleviate traffic by having less cars driving to Mound! This month we are encouraging all families to walk, bike or carpool to and from school, or park across the 126 on Webster St and walk across the pedestrian bridge.
We are even having a raffle! Each trip you make to Mound using one of the above alternatives earns you one raffle ticket*. We will draw 5 tickets each Friday and the winner will receive a reusable Mound tote bag filled with lots of goodies. We will also have a Grand Prize drawing at the end of the month.
*tickets and ticket jar can be found in the front office – please write your child’s name and room number on the ticket. ONE ticket per family per trip please (carpools may enter one ticket for each family in the carpool)
It’s that time again! The Mound Jog-a-thon is the ONLY active fundraiser we do as a school! Our school depends on the donations received to sponsor some of the amazing traditions that your students count on at Mound!
Over the next three weeks students collect donations from their families, neighbors, and friends. Students can submit their collected donations to their teacher, the box in the front office, or donate online at http://www.moundjogathon.org throughout the week and will be counted each Friday. Turn in any collected donations with a submission slip found in this packet or in the front office.

A reminder that Back to School Night will be Thursday, Sept. 11th from 5:30pm-7:30pm.
5:30-6:30: Dinner available for pick up
6:30: Principal and Superintendent's Greetings
6:35: Introduction of Staff - Mr. Tyner
6:50-7:30: Classroom Visitations.
Activities will also include Bake Sale, Henna Tattoo Art, Silent Auction and Cake Walk
Dinners are available by Pre-Order only. Please return attached form by Friday, September 5th.
As promised, as a reward for nearly reaching the school-wide Jogathon goal, Mr. Tyner was a great sport letting the kids use him as a canvas. And popular 5th grade teacher Mr. Rowley went permanently pink as a reward for the 5th grade nearly reaching their grade-level goal. (Thank you Gina Denger at Ten-Dash-One salon for donating your time and handiwork!) And there was pizza for all, of course. What a fun celebration! Congratulations to Ms. Green's and Mrs. Sittel's classrooms, for bringing in the most donations! They each received $300 in gift cards to spend on their classrooms.
The Book Fair is coming! Shop and support our Library! Book Fair is during Conference Week, Nov. 20 - 26, and we are proud to have Mrs. Nelson's Book Sellers providing our books for us again this year. Book Fair will be in Room 23, near CDC, in the portables.
In order to make the Book Fair a success, we need volunteers. No experience is necessary. It is super simple, volunteers help the children count their money, locate books and help children remember to keep backpacks outside. There is something special when the children show you the book that they have been wanting and are grinning from ear to ear. All proceeds go to help the library buy books and supplies. The Book Fair and Box Tops proceeds are the only funds the library receives, so these are excellent ways to support the library.
