Myths and Facts

about Mound PTO

MYTH: I already volunteer at Mound. I don't need to go to the meetings. And isn't PTO time consuming?

FACT: PTO has one meeting per month, some of which are on zoom. We all have families and other responsibilities and value everyone's time. The meetings are a great way to stay informed and connected.

MYTH: I have to be a board member to attend PTO meetings.

FACT: Everyone is welcome at PTO monthly meetings! PTO meetings are a great way to connect with other parents and find out more about what’s happening here at Mound.

MYTH: I'm just one person.

FACT: All Mound families (students' legal guardians) and staff are considered PTO members and all have voting rights. Your vote, along with others, helps make decisions that affect our students, staff, and Mound community.

MYTH: Joining PTO means I have to volunteer. I’ll get roped into something if I go to a PTO meeting.

FACT: You do not have to volunteer to be a member of PTO! All Mound families (students' legal guardians) and staff are considered members already. Registering with PTO allows you to be informed and more connected. There are always opportunities to get involved, as we do need a lot of volunteers to keep all of the activities running smoothly. We do ask for help but there is no pressure to sign up if you are unable to. We appreciate everyone’s membership. The simple act of joining PTO, attending meetings and providing input, is valuable to our school!
